Sura Fatiha / Opening the Heart

Bismi-llah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim
We begin in the Name of God, Everlasting Mercy, Infinite Compassion

Al-hamdu lillahi rabb il- 'alamin
Praise be to god, Loving Lord of all the worlds

Ar-Rahman ir-Rahim
Everlasting Mercy, Infinite Compassion

Maliki yaum id-din
Eternal Strength of every living being,
Whose Majestic Power embraces us on the day of the great return

Iyyaka na'abudu wa iyyaka nasta'in
Only You do we adore and to You alone do we cry for help

Ihdina as-sirat al mustaqim
Guide us, O God, on the path of Perfect Harmony

Sirat al-laddhina an'amta 'alaihim ghair il-maghdubi 'alaihim wa lad-dullin
the path of those whom you have blessed with the gifts of Peace, Joy, Serenity and Delight,
the path of those who are not brought down by anger,
the path of those who are not lost along the way

Amin
So be it

Sura Fatiha is the first sura in the Holy Qu'ran.
It is recited either silently or aloud for every repetition of the Muslim prayer and every Muslim knows it if they know nothing else from the Qu'ran.
So I am very moved that Saadi Douglas Klotz created this zikr after meditating on Sura Fatiha and that Munira will lead it for us.
Please join us, as always no prior knowledge or experience is needed or expected.

And mark your calendars - next zikr February 27 insha'allah
