Remember, remember - Potluck dinner and Zikr Allah December 28 at Zawiyya al Mu'min!

Potluck meal beginning at 6, Zikr Allah at 7:30-
no experience expected only love of the Divine Being

every moment
a voice
out of this world
calls on our soul
to wake up and rise
this soul of ours
is like a flame
with more smoke than light
blackening our vision
letting no light through
lessen the smoke and
more light brightens your house
the house you dwell in now
and the abode
you'll eventually move to
now my precious soul
how long are you going to
waste yourself
in this wandering journey
can't you hear the voice
can't you use your swifter wings
and answer the call

-- Translation by Nader Khalili

Zikr Schedule for November & December 2007

When you plant a tree
every leaf that grows will tell you,
what you sow will bear fruit.
So if you have any sense, my friend
don't plant anything but love,
you show your worth by what you seek.
Water flows to those who want purity
wash your hands of all desires and
come to the table of Love.
Do you want me to tell you a secret?
The flowers attract the most beautiful lover
with their sweet smile and scent.
If you let God weave the verse in your poem
people will read it forever.

-- Translation by Azima Melita Kolin
and Maryam Mafi

One way of healing is working with energy, and the other is through self realization. This must

power. --Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan

Autumn is a time of when all of nature comes into its fullest expression bringing forth the inherent richness of Life. If we make a retreat in autumn it facilitates this same expression within ourselves and our lives. --Moinuddin

…About the Healing Body, Mind, and Soul Retreat
As you relax in the peace and beauty of Nature, the Healing Body, Mind, and Soul Retreat will offer a
variety of healing perspectives and experiences; it will create sacred space to explore those aspects of healing most relevant to you at this point in your life.

During our time together, there will be opportunities to explore healing from both a deeply inner and personal level, as well as from a planetary and universal perspective. Throughout the weekend we willspend time in silence, yet also share, laugh, and enjoy one another in community.

Each person will be able to experience the retreat at his/her own pace.

*A Retreat allows us a pause in which we may step out of our normal mode of living in order to reflect upon our lives and gain more clarity, and ultimately become more aware of what our real objective is in life. A retreat is an opportunity for a lot of reflection, a time to explore those skills which will open upf aculties that we are not using and insights of which we are not aware. It is an opportunity to unleash the spiritual power that will enable us to fulfill the purpose of our lives.–Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan.

This retreat will be guided by a number of highly experienced individuals, each with over 20 years experience in healing, meditation, and the retreat process.

All are welcome!

"Music Master"
You that love lovers,
this is your home. Welcome!

In the midst of making form, love
made this form that melts form,
with love for the door,
soul the vestibule.
Watch the dust grains moving
in the light near the window.
Their dance is our dance.

We rarely hear the inward music,
but we're all dancing to it nevertheless,

directed by the one who teaches us,
the pure joy of the sun,
our music master.

This ceremony of Zikr from the Chistia branch of the Sufi tradition was given to help awaken the human senses to the light of consciousness in nature and the entire manifested cosmos. This light, which the sufis call Nur, points to the Unity of Being, beyond individual names and forms. When the human being awakens to its capacity to contain the consciousness of the cosmos, then it awakens to its original, ecological self and fulfills the purpose of life.

Neil Douglas-Klotz, Ph.D.

Murshid Saadi Shakur Chisti

Munira Elizabeth Reed and friends will be leading Saadi’s Zikr of Light

Informal, no experience required.

Simple movements with simple chanted phrases

All are welcome!
