Traditional Sufi meditation practices, rarely
offered to the general public. This powerful and transformative technique opens
the doors of the mystical heart, one at a time, to the light of divine love
(`ishq Allah).
Sufi meditation focuses on training and refining
the ego-self, using visualization, concentration, directed breath practice, and
prayer. These practices develop in stages, unveiling the subtlest levels of the
innermost heart, the seat of wisdom, insight, and compassion for all life.
The
results of this healing process are deeply rewarding, spiritually and
practically. As the mystical heart opens to divine love, we encounter our true
reality.
Imam Bilal is co-author of Physicians of the
Heart: Sufi Guidebook to the 99 Beautiful Names Of Allah with Murshid Wali Ali
and Pir Shabda Kahn of the Sufi Ruhaniat International, and Faisal Muqaddam,
co-creator of the Diamond Approach.
This retreat is open to all, no experience necessary.

Practical
Matters
Accommodations: There are a number of sorts
of rooms at the retreat center - a few rooms with a queen or full size bed,
also with bath; a few more with 2 twins and bath; a few with twins and shared
(hallway) bath – all the preceding types are very near and on the same level
with the meeting space we expect to use. There are also rooms further away on
different levels, some with baths but most with shared bath. Space is very
limited this year so you may need to share a room.
Regarding Physical Challenges: Most of the rooms and the meeting space are on the
second floor, up about 20 steps. There are chairs for salat if you are
uncomfortable on the floor.
Food: Meals will be provided by
the chef at Sts. Peter and Paul. If you have any food restrictions please let
us know. We assume there will be a need for gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan
options. We do need to know how many people will need each of these. Any meats
will be halal or kosher.
Arrival and Departure: Please
try to arrive between 4 and 6 on March 27, 2015. There will be a light meal at
6. The first session will begin at 8.
During the Retreat: Each
day will move among prayer, zikr, teachings, silence, sohbet, tea. If you like
bring a prayer rug and cushions to sit on, and sweets for Saturday afternoon
tea.
Registration: Wahaba Hafsa al Mu’id will be the registrar.
You may contact her by phone at 443-370-9531
or email at myrkvith9@gmail.com
Fees: The cost is $300– this covers everything. If you are
able to contribute more that would help with expenses and scholarships. A
deposit of $100 is due by February 27, 2015. The balance is due March 20. Early payment
will be much appreciated. Write checks to J. Smirniotopoulos and mail to Wahaba
